Meet our Personal Trainers

David Aguayo

David Aguayo profile picture David discovered his passion for all things kinesiology, fitness and nutrition while studying at UC Davis. One of his instructors (an IFFB Professional Female Body Builder), became his mentor and encouraged him to follow his passion.

While doing internships at the SRJC Adapted Physical Education program and the Adaptive Training Foundation in Dallas, Texas, David had the opportunity to work with individuals with various physical challenges. These challenges included spinal cord injuries, traumatic brain injuries, strokes, cerebral palsy, amputated limbs, etc. These experiences solidified David’s decision to become a certified personal trainer as he works towards his goal of achieving a Doctorate of Physical Therapy degree.

David supports clients to live an active, healthy and pain-free lifestyle. In addition to working at the YMCA, he currently works as a Physical Therapy Rehabilitation Aide at a local outpatient physical therapy clinic.

David specializes in general strength, muscular hypertrophy, fat loss through strength training and sustainable nutritional strategies. He creates an individualized exercise protocol according to each client’s needs and capabilities while continuously increasing the challenge level to help the client progress.

When he is not working at the YMCA, physical therapy clinic or at school, he enjoys spending time with his family & friends, hiking and working out.

Ela Jean Beedle

Ela Jean Beedle headshotAn adamant believer that fitness looks different for everyone, Ela came to personal training for its tailored approach. Her aim is to help clients not only  meet their fitness goals and feel good in their bodies, but to find joy in the process and develop a movement practice that can evolve with them for years to come.

Ela didn’t always feel at ease in the gym. But as she built a career in restaurants, working out became critical to keep herself in shape for the demanding work, balance her lifestyle, and clear her head. In the process, she found that building strength and resilience in the body does the same for the mind. This inspired her to take a deep dive into exercise science and eventually, to use that knowledge to help others experience the healing, generative effects of movement. She wants to make fitness safe, accessible, and enjoyable to all, even and especially those who have dubious feelings about the gym as she once did.

Whether you need help getting started, getting back into it, or taking your training to the next level, Ela will meet you where you’re at and support you every step of the way.

Aside from working out, Ela loves art, music, food, and backpacking in the Sierras. You may find her subbing group Ex classes or dancing between sets while working out on the fitness floor. Don’t be shy - say hi!
